Waveland's Ground Zero Hurricane Museum commemorates the Mississippi Gulf Coast's hurricane history through public education on disaster preparedness, preservation of hurricane artifacts and narratives, and recognition of the Gulf Coast's incredible resilience throughout hardship.
The "Dear Santa" Letter collection consists of hundreds of letters written by Waveland's Katrina survivors in Winter 2005, months after the storm's devastating impact in the city. These letters grant insight into the hopes and heartaches of storm survivors as they share their storm experiences and Christmas wishes.
