Hancock County Library System serves a population of roughly 40,000 residents in Bay St. Louis, Diamondhead, Waveland, Kiln, Pearlington, and surrounding areas. Established in 1935 as a WPA library, HCLS has grown to five branches.

Hancock County Library System is a steward of local history, preserving digitized and born-digital content, including historical periodicals like the Sea Coast Echo and Hancock County Eagle, community driven collections such as yearbooks and oral history interviews, and images documenting the history and happenings of Hancock County.
