SOUTH MISSISSIPPI GENEALOGICAL AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Hattiesburg, MS
The South Mississippi Genealogical and Historical Society was organized in 1981 as a non-profit organization to serve the genealogical interests of people in south Mississippi. Our goals are to promote interest in genealogical research and historical events and public access to and preservation of historical records; maintain a public library devoted to collecting, transcribing, and preserving public and private records and disseminating genealogical and historical records and information; and conduct public lectures, programs, discussion groups, courses of instruction, and forums related to historical events and issues, genealogical research methods and standards of documentation. We welcome visitors to our library and meetings, and are always ready to help with research.
